The idea of working with wood started as a small dream — something that lingered in the background while I was studying finance. After finishing my master, that dream became too big to ignore. I enrolled at the Hout- en Meubileringscollege, and that’s where everything clicked. The smell of fresh-cut timber, the rhythm of the workshop, the quiet focus of making—you could say that’s where I found my place.

I fell in love with the craft, especially with traditional joinery: the logic, the precision, the way a good connection feels almost effortless once it’s right. From there, starting my own workshop felt like a natural next step.

That workshop grew into Atelier Hendriksen, and through my collaboration with Studio Koen Steger, it developed even further. What began with making furniture has expanded into designing and building complete interiors and light installations. Koen and I complement each other well—he approaches space the way I approach materials. Together we design, build and install as much as we can ourselves, because that keeps the work honest and close to its intention.

Now based in our atelier in Ouderkerk, we’re building pieces and spaces that balance craft, clarity and character. And that first dream—the one that started this whole thing—is still alive in every project we take on.
